Federal legalization of same gender marriage opportunity for community unity
Last Friday, the United States Supreme Court, by a 5-4 vote, made a landmark decision in the Obergefell v. Hodges case to legalize gay marriage in all 50 states.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, who authored the majority opinion in more than 100 pages said, “No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than they once were.”
