EPRD & Kittredge Civic Association Launch Crowdfunding Effort to Build a Shelter in Kittredge Park
Evergreen, CO (Aug. 14, 2015) -

Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) and the Kittredge Civic Association (KCA) launch a monthlong, online crowdfunding effort on Tuesday, Aug. 25, to raise $19,000 to build a shelter in Kittredge Park.

Community members who want to contribute to building a shelter in the only playground park in the District without one can donate at www.fundyourpark.org , beginning at 9 AM on Aug. 25.

Kittredge is a tight-knit, family-oriented mountain community whose small park has been a neighborhood touchstone for generations. This year, EPRD, the Kittredge Civic Association and Jefferson County are working together to make substantial improvements, including innovative new playground equipment and an expanded grass play area. With $140,000 already invested in the project, these improvements will come in fall 2015.

The next need is a shelter -- a place to rest, to gather and to protect users from the elements, especially families with young children and handicapped populations.

The Kittredge Park Shelter was chosen to be featured on the crowdfunding site, Fund Your Park, through a competitive application process with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Fund Your Park is a crowdfunding platform designed by NRPA exclusively for park and recreation agencies. Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people usually through the internet.

EPRD and KCA hope to install the shelter in spring 2016.

Evergreen Park & Recreation District
Evergreen Park and Recreation District (EPRD) was formed in 1969 to serve the park and recreation needs of the communities of Evergreen, Bergen Park, Indian Hills, Kittredge and Marshdale. The citizens of the EPRD area place high value in their parks, recreation facilities and programs as an enhancement to the community's quality of life. This commitment is embodied in the District's strong parks and recreation system, with its unique facilities such as Buchanan Park, Buchanan Park Recreation Center, Evergreen Lake House, and Wulf Recreation Center.

EPRD serves approximately 22,000 people residing within its boundaries, and offers affordable recreational options to non-district residents. Learn more at www.evergreenrecreation.com .

The National Recreation and Park Association

The Kittredge Civic Association
The Kittredge Civic Association (KCA) is a non-profit, volunteer-based community organization, serving Kittredge, CO, since 1960. Did you know that Kittredge Park is the only playground park in Evergreen Park & Recreation District that has no shelter? There's no place to rest, to gather, to seek refuge from cold rain or hot sun, especially for families with young children and the disabled.

So the mountain community is coming together to raise $19,000 to build a shelter! EPRD and the Kittredge Civic Association (KCA) will launch a monthlong, online crowdfunding effort this Tuesday, Aug. 25. (Crowdfunding is a new way to fund a project by raising money from a large number of people usually through the internet. If everyone gives, even if they can only afford a little, we can raise a lot!)

The campaign launches at 9 AM on Tuesday, Aug. 25 and ends at 10 PM on Sept. 25
