A Taste of the Foothills fall family festival is just around the corner and participation not only guarantees a great time for those who attend, it also benefits an organization tha serves clients going through the most terrible time in their lives.
The annual event, with food and fun at its centerpiece, benefits PeaceWorks, Inc. and the Mountain Peace Shelter, the only organization that shelters and serves victims of relationship violence and sexual assault in Park and mountain Jefferson Counties.
The topic is heavy, which is one reason why the primary goal of the festival is to provide healthy, fun family activities that celebrate the uniqueness and charm of mountain living, according to PeaceWorks Executive Director Janet Shown.
“We want to recognize happy healthy families as well as bring awareness to domestic violence issues in the community,” Shown said. “With a festival like this, people can build relationships, which are critical in supporting healthy families.”
