A call came into the Park County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 26 at 4:11 p.m. from an Alma man living on Willow Lane. He stated a neighbor, whom he identified as Sam Adams, 73, had shot him.
The caller, Philip Houghton, 61, reported he had been shot below his waist on the right side. During the call, Houghton stated that Adams fled on foot.
Fairplay Police Chief Joel Vice said Alma Police Sgt. Zachary Robertson was first on scene and provided medical aid to the victim.
Fairplay Police Officer Becky Bramlett arrived on the scene and assisted Robertson with the victim, and then they kept visual contact on the suspect’s home.
