Jefferson Center for Mental Health is pleased to offer Mental Health First Aid to the mountain community! Mental Health First Aid is a FREE 8-hour course designed to give you the tools to recognize a range of mental health problems and the skills and confidence to help someone in a mental health crisis. The program provides a concrete action plan that includes assessing risk, respectfully listening to and supporting the individual in crisis, and identifying appropriate professional help and other supports.
Mental Health First Aid for Veterans discusses military culture and its relevance to mental health, reviews specific risk factors faced by many service members and their families (such as trauma, stress and separation) and helps break down the stigma associated with mental health problems. The course is designed specifically for service members and those who support them, and helps Veterans connect to resources available in their community.
