Trial nears end as attorneys battle on character, guns

By the end of Day Eight of the Jarrod Moquist murder trial at the Park County Courthouse in Failrplay, both sides rested their case, but not before the prosecution’s rebuttal witnesses painted a very different picture of the victim, Evan Graham.

The defense opened the Feb. 3 proceedings with two anonymous witnesses. The court was cleared of spectators and the press and the witnesses were ushered into the courthouse, one at a time to testify. Their identities remain unknown at the time of this writing.

The next defense witness was Paul Paradis of Paradise Sales Firearms in Colorado Springs. Paradis co-authored “Human Factors Issues in Handgun Safety and Forensics” and was introduced as an expert witness.

Paradis has acted as a criminalist consultant and an expert in firearms, tool marks and firearms instructor. He has more than 35 years of experience.
