Land use issues on the agenda packed the room at the weekly meeting of the Park County Board of County Commissioners March 24.

The public hearing was open for comments on topics including marijuana-related land uses, accessory structures and storage containers on residential lots, telecommunications facilities, definitions of manufactured home and recreational vehicle and utility facility use schedules.

The hot topic though, was camping on residential lots.

Chairman Mike Brazell began the hearing saying, “We’re here to listen. This is very controversial.”

Brazell shared with the public that he has been a camper his whole life, at 17,000 feet above and 300 feet below sea level on six continents.

“I’m sympathetic to both sides,” he said.
