285 Tourism's Foothills Adventure Bus Tour Starting Spring 2016!

05 Apr 2016 17:17 #1 by 285Tourism

We are renting buses from the fabulous Seniors' Resource Center in Evergreen and we will be taking you and your friends and family on a tour of the beautiful 285 Corridor starting in Morrison and going all the way out to Shawnee on May 14th from 8:30am-4:30pm. The cost is $50/person and it includes a light breakfast on the way up (sponsored by My Mountain Town) from The Village Patisserie, plus lunch at Rustic Station in Bailey.

The first stop will be at Aspen Park Village where you will have the chance to shop at Luna's Mandala, Mountain Books, Blue Spruce Habitat Restore Conifer, Look What I Found Boutique, or any of the other shops in the Village that strike your fancy, giving you the opportunity to find unique items, some made by local artists, in cozy, friendly stores.

At 10:00am we head down to the Little White Schoolhouse where the Conifer Historical Society & Museum will be doing a presentation on the history of the area, and showing off their collections of pictures, books about the area, and historical artifacts! We leave there at 11:15am and head to Bailey for the second part of our tour.

In Bailey, we'll stop at Rustic Station for lunch, then everyone will have an hour to wander Downtown Bailey to see the sights, such as Park County Historical Society of Colorado's McGraw Park, and shop at The Sasquatch Outpost, The Knotty Pine, Fun & Funky Art Galleries and Gifts, or have a glass of wine at Aspen Peak Cellars by the South Platte River.

The 3rd part of our tour begins at 2:00pm where we head from Bailey out to Shawnee. Our final stop is at the Shawnee Tea Room, where everyone can enjoy a free cup of hot or cold tea, purchase snacks, shop, and hear about the history of Shawnee, and/or they can head over to the Shawnee Mountain Gallery where Vincent Tolpo will be putting on a Pottery Demonstration and also be giving a little bit of history of the area! At 3:30 we head back down to Morrison after a full, fun-filled day. :)

We look forward to introducing you to the beauty, history, and unique shopping our Corridor has to offer. We're Minutes Away, but with Mountains of Things to Do! Please share this event on your facebook page and invite those you know who might be interested. We'll be organizing additional tours throughout the summer and fall focusing on some of the activities we have to offer, wildflower season, wildlife viewing, more history, and of course the beauty of our Rocky Mountains! A quick update on our 285 Tourism Foothills Adventure Bus Tour: there will be a western re-enactment at McGraw Park open to anyone who would like to watch! As soon as we have a specific time nailed down, we'll post it here and on our Facebook page. The buildings at McGraw Park will be open for you to wander through, but Park County Historical Society has a dinner presentation that night so they can't spare anyone to be present to give us some info on the buildings during this tour. They're planning on future tours though!

Our next tour is tentatively scheduled for Saturday June 11th. Details on that later!

Call or email me to reserve your seat for this tour - seating is limited to only 20!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Please call Sharon at 720-608-0285 to save your seat - $50 includes a light breakfast, lunch at Rustic Station, a glass of hot or cold tea at the Shawnee Tea Room (one of your last chances to go, they are closing at the end of May), and a day of fun! We have to thank our friends at the Fairplay Flume for covering our upcoming 285 Tourism Foothills Adventure Bus Tour, and also chuckle at the picture and caption they placed right next to our headline. :)-

While this is a full-day immersion into the Hwy 285 Corridor area, no, we do not plan to include THAT first-hand experience as part of the tour. ROFL!

Seats are selling so don't wait to reserve yours - we only have 20 total! Call Sharon at 720-608-0285 to process your credit card by phone, and ask any questions you may have. We hope to see you soon!

A couple of updates: River Canyon Gallery plans to serve dessert and coffee during the hours that the Bus Tour is in Bailey/Rustic Square on May 14, and our olde west re-enactment has been moved from McGraw Park to Shawnee so we'll be leaving Bailey about 15 minutes earlier than originally scheduled to make sure we have time for that in Shawnee.

Our bus tickets are half sold now so call today or tomorrow if you want to join us! 720-608-0285

We had a fantastic first bus tour last weekend! Our many thanks to Janet, Jan, Barbara, Claire, Carole, John, Sharon, Julie, Becky, JoAnn, and Dennis who booked the trip with us, shopped in our stores, listened to our presentations, asked questions, shared stories, and were great to hang out with all day! A huge thank you also to our wonderful businesses and nonprofits who offered us free goodies (the taffy was a sweet treat at Fun & Funky Art Gallery were weren't expecting!) - we felt spoiled. :)

Seniors' Resource Center, thank you for a comfy bus and our great driver Jos, he was a hoot!

Mark your calendars - our next tour will be on Friday June 24th and it will coincide with the Grand Opening Ceremony of Guanella Pass! We're tentatively planning on starting at El Rancho Brewery, stopping in Georgetown, heading up to Guanella to witness the ceremony with legislators and have a picnic lunch, then head down 285 and do some shopping. As we confirm details, we'll share them here, please pass them along to family and friends. Thank you all!

Here's a few of our day; check out all of our photos here! 285 Tourism Foothills Adventure May Bus Tour

Our sincerest apologies to you all; we are postponing our June Foothills Adventure Bus Tour to July 23rd instead. We need a little more time to prepare the itinerary to make it the best trip we possibly can!

We hope to see you at Bailey Day this Saturday instead where we'll have a booth amidst all the festivities!
