A huge upset occurred at the 69th annual Fairplay 2016 World Championship Pack Burro Race July 31. The two time consecutive reigning champions Zack and Jack were beaten in the race’s final moments by Kirt Courkamp and Mary Margaret.
The upset finish was the culmination of the three day event in Fairplay.
The 29 mile race, which began on Front Street in Fairplay and went over the top of Mosquito Pass at an elevation of 13,210 ft., came down to the final stretch run.
