LWV Jeffco to present ballot issue pros and cons Oct. 22
Do you have questions about the numerous ballot issues voters will decide in November? Everyone is invited to bring their tough questions to a ballot issues meeting being sponsored by The League of Women Voters of Jefferson County from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Clements Community Center, 1580 Yarrow St., Lakewood, 80214.
The main provisions of each ballot initiative, along with the major pro and con positions, will be discussed. LWV positions, if applicable, also will be discussed. Representatives from both sides of each initiative have been invited to have a display table and answer questions. Jefferson County voters face nine statewide measures plus county and local issues, including Jefferson County School District’s 3A and 3B funding proposals and Ballot Issue 4B, which reauthorizes the collection of the 0.1% sales and use tax for the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, which includes Jeffco.
Additional ballot issue and voter information is available at the Jeffco LWV website,
www.lwvjeffco.org
and at VOTE411.org. In addition, the Colorado LWV has put out a LWVCO Statewide Ballot Issues Pamphlet, which is available at your local library or can be ordered from the League by calling 303-238-0032. Information also can be found in the Legislative Analysis of the Ballot Issues, commonly known as the “Blue Book,” which is being mailed to each household with registered voters.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that neither supports nor opposes candidates from any party. The League’s mission is to promote informed and active participation in government and to influence public policy through education and advocacy after consideration by its members.
