It has been nearly a decade since the Conifer Area Council formed the Trails Study/Action Team, whose aim is to connect the Conifer community via a network of trails between schools, business centers and residential areas.
According to the CAC website, coniferareacouncil.org, the team coordinates with the Jefferson County Offices of Transportation and Engineering, Open Space, Planning and Zoning, and the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Since 2007, the Conifer Trails Team has raised and spent over $800,000 on the plan, which supported the construction of the trail between West Jefferson Elementary and King Soopers, and the link through the U.S. Highway 285 underpass to the south side of Aspen Park.
The completed sections of trail add up to about a mile and a quarter.
