Guffey Charter School holds eighth annual Pie Palooza

Once again pie mania struck Guffey during the eighth annual Pie Palooza. Grand Champion/Best in Show this year was Pat Lamb with her Frangelico chocolate mousse pie with a crust of ground walnuts, pecans, chocolate graham cracker, and Fragelico Liqueur filled with pure cream and dark chocolate.

The pie later sold at the auction for $300. Lamb was Grand Champion last year with her award winning lemon meringue pie. The top selling pie this year was $410 for a shepherd’s pie.

A “palooza” is an exaggerated event, according to www.definitions.net and pie is “a baked food having a filling of fruit, meat, pudding, etc., prepared in a pastry-lined pan or dish and often topped with a pastry crust,” stated www.dictionary.com . Put them together and you get a pie fest extraordinaire.
