Park County opposes two Congressional Review Act resolutions

Park County is actively opposing Congress possibly revoking two Bureau of Land Management rules that were adopted recently.

The county also asks that residents email or call Colorado U.S. Senators to support the BLM rules and to vote no on the joint resolutions passed by the House of Representatives in early February.

One resolution Park County commissioners are opposing is House Joint Resolution 44 that would negate BLM’s new Planning 2.0 procedures.

The other is HJR 36 that would negate a rule to reduce wasteful flaring, venting, and leaks of natural gas from oil wells, storage facilities and pipeline leaks.

Both have been approved by the House and sent to the Senate to take up after Congress’s week off from Feb. 18 to 26.
