At approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, Elk Creek Fire Protection District was called out to a wildfire near South Wamblee Valley Road and Sunset Trail in Conifer. The fire had already consumed about 2.5 acres of ground cover and was headed into some trees.
On Feb. 14, another fire on Wamblee destroyed a home and a number of trees in the forest that surrounded the home.
As soon as ECFPD arrived on the scene and surveyed the situation, they asked Evergreen dispatch to put a call out for mutual aid. Firefighters from the Platte Canyon Fire Protection District, North Fork Fire Protection District, Inter Canyon Fire Protection District and Evergreen Fire and Rescue brought equipment and personnel to the scene.
Law enforcement on the scene came from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
