Conifer Kiwanis Club hosts Reading Celebration Day

hird grade students from six area schools and homeschooled students, gathered at the barn in Evergreen Memorial Park, for the 15th Annual Reading Celebration Day, sponsored by the Conifer Kiwanis Club.

The schools represented at the celebration were Deer Creek Elementary School, Elk Creek Elementary School, Marshdale Elementary School, Parmalee Elementary School, Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen and West Jefferson Elementary School. Homeschooled students were also at the event.

DCES had over 24 students at the event, along with third grade teachers Lori Compton, Jen Mattson and Katie Walters
.
According to the CKC, a study came out 15 years ago that stated “the third grade represents the best chance to save a child’s life from spiraling down into ignorance.”
