March 10, around 9 p.m., the Platte Canyon Fire Protection District was called out to a structure fire at 1443 South Ridge Road in the Burland Ranchettes subdivision in Bailey.
Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and further investigation the next morning discovered that the explosion and subsequent fire were the results of a mishap during a hash oil extraction process.
Elk Creek Fire Protection District was also called to the scene, extending mutual aid to fight the fire.
A young woman and two young men in their 20s received third degree burns in the fire.
