Superintendent Dr. Brenda Krage discussed the 2017-18 RE-1 budget deficit on March 20 and went beyond to discuss educational funding for the next five years.
Dr. Krage believes that the $970,000 deficit for the 2017-18 school year can be balanced through attrition and other moves.
“I am confident we are going to be able to present a balanced budget for the 17-18 fiscal year,” Dr. Krage said.
Dr. Krage believes the challenge is the next three to five years where the tipping point for many districts could be in year four unless the legislature passes new education funding reforms.
