“Legally Blonde, the Musical” opens at The Venue Theatre Friday April 7 at 7 p.m. The musical is based on the book “Legally Blonde,” written by Amanda Brown. The popular 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon was also based on the book.
“The musical follows the movie pretty much through the first act but then goes its own way and I like where it goes much better,” said Nelson Conway, managing director of The Venue Theatre.
The musical opened in pre-Broadway tryouts in San Francisco from Jan. 23 until Feb. 25, 2007 and moved to Broadway, opening at The Palace Theatre, for previews beginning April 3, 2007 and officially opened on April 29, 2007 for the general public.
The musical’s book was written by Heather Hatch, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Neil Benjamin.
