The annual multi-agency operating and cost sharing plan for wildfire response was signed March 30 by Park County commissioners.
The plan is reviewed each year and updated as necessary and is an agreement between the county, United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
It outlines comprehensive procedures for all agencies fighting a wildfire, such as who is responsible for setting up an incident command, who is in charge of communications, what personnel and equipment is shared, and cost sharing procedures for wildfire suppression.
“We had 14 (fire) calls the other day,” Commissioner Mark Dowaliby said. “I’m afraid it will be a horrendous year (for fires).”
