Superintendent Dr. Brenda Krage and Kelly Varney, the director of business services, updated the school board on the current state of the 2017-2018 Platte Canyon School District RE-1 budget.
The bottom line with the budget is that the district is still expecting a shortfall for the 2017-2018 budget of $970,000.
“We will present a balanced budget,” Krage said. Krage believes that through attrition and other means the budget for the 2017-2018 year will be balanced. The breakdown, for now, pending the state Legislature’s action on the state budget, is an approximate $480,000 decrease in state funding and an estimated $490,000 in increased expenses for the district.
