The fourth and final Conifer Town Hall Meeting took place at the West Jefferson Middle School April 19. The meetings schedule will resume in September. The focus of this last meeting was wildfire preparedness. There were several speakers addressing different areas of the corridor.
The speakers included: Jeff Ravage, North Fork Watershed Coordinator, Joe Sean Kennedy, District Fire Management Officer from Division 11 of the United States Forest Service, Bill McLaughlin, Elk Creek Fire Protection District Chief, and Skip Shirlaw, Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District Chief.
The general consensus from all the speakers was that the area right now is doing all right. The South Platte area is currently at 94 percent of the average for winter moisture.
