What has a carnival, movies, rodeo, concerns, barrel racing, greased pigs and pelvis-swaying Elvis? Of course, it’s the Park County Fair, which will run July 12 -16 in Fairplay, with some 4-H events beginning Tuesday, July 11.
This year’s fair promises favorites such as Colorado’s highest draft horse pull, barrel racing, greased pigs, a beer garden and Elvis.
New events this year include the chili cookoff. Chili categories are green or red and a people’s choice category. The cookoff is a fundraiser for the Royalty Program.
Also new this year is a mac-n-cheese contest for children. The homemade dishes will be judged and there is a $100 prize for the best.
