LWV Jeffco Book Club announces November selections on “Inequality”

Inequality is such a hot topic these days. There have been numerous books written on the subject recently and too many articles and blogs to know where to begin. So, the Jefferson County League of Women Voters nonfiction book club will examine the subject by reading varied and sundry books and articles.

A few of the recommended books are: The Broken Ladder: How Inequality Affects the Way We Think, Live and Die by Keith Payne; The Fate of the West: The Battle to Save the World’s Most Successful Political Idea by Bill Emmott; Dream Hoarders: How the American Upper Middle Class is Leaving Everyone Else in the Dust, Why That Is and What to Do about It by Richard Reeves and One Another’s Equals: The Basis of Human Equality, by Jeremy Waldron.

Choose one of these - or any other you’ve come across - and come ready to discuss what’s happened - and more important - some of the ideas to solve the problem. A discussion group will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Lakewood Public Library, 10200 W. 20th Ave., Lakewood 80215. A second meeting will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m. at Westland Meridian, 10695 W. 17th Ave., Lakewood 80215. For more information call Lynne at 303-985-5128.

LWV Jeffco is a nonpartisan organization that neither endorses nor opposes candidates. For more information visit www.lwvjeffco.org or call 303-238-0032.
