Sheriff Fred Wegener, Captain Sven Bonnelycke and Business Manager Sarah Kimsey met with Park County commissioners to discuss across-the-board salary increases for all sheriff’s employees.
If the commissioners approve the sheriff’s plan, $252,000 will be added to the current $1.2 million for sheriff employees’ payroll. That amount includes the county’s portion of withholding and retirement.
Wegener said he can’t keep personnel due to low salaries. Once they are fully trained and have a year or two on the job, they leave for higher paying positions.
