All are invited to this important conversation on March 20 hosted by Jeffco Public Schools ~ Colorado about school safety.

Sheriff Jeff Shrader is proud to join Arvada Police Department, Colorado, Wheat Ridge Police Department, Golden Police Department, Lakewood Police Department, the I Love U Guys Foundation and others to talk about these issues and how we can all work together to keep Jefferson County a safe place for everyone to live, learn, work and play.

Some things Mr. McDonald is saying:
They would like to put one mental health provider in each school, estimate it would cost $13 million dollars.

1,300 locks changed so they lock from the inside, at a cost of $800,000. Have 3,500 left to do.

Window safety film is $5/sq ft - video demonstration shown of officers shooting at a window with the safety film protection on it, it didn't break with multiple rounds and took significant sledgehammer effort to break a hole.

Task Force Application Process

Jeffco Public Schools is now assembling a task force to further examine our security practices across the district. If you are interested in working with this team, applications will be accepted through Tuesday, April 10.

The goal is to have the first task force meeting before May 1.
