The Flume will sponsor a debate for all five sheriff’s candidates Saturday, June 2, from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Platte Canyon Fire Protection District Station Two on the top of Crow Hill in Bailey.
As of this writing, all five candidates have promised to partake in the debate. This will not simply be a meet and greet, where candidates can simply repeat their policy positions. The debate will offer the opportunity for each candidate to challenge another candidate on statements made and ideas espoused.
During May, The Flume will publish the rules of the debate, both for the candidates and rules for the audience that attends.
There will also be a form in the newspaper to fill out, so readers can submit their questions. During May, questions can also be submitted through email or dropping them off at The Flume office in Bailey.
