EPRD has renamed its Special Needs Program INSPIRE to shift the focus from disability to ability. The name INSPIRE is an acronym that encompasses the new message thus:
IN - INcorporating opportunities for
S - Social
P - Physical and
I - Inclusive
R - Recreational
E - Experiences
The purpose of the re-branding is to emphasize people instead of disability, to focus more on experiences than on accommodations.
The INSPIRE Program includes summer and school break camps; sports opportunities such as golf, bowling, track and field, Special Olympics competitions and unified basketball games; specialty classes such as therapeutic horseback riding; group and private swimming lessons; social events; job training; and more.
Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) was formed in 1969 to serve the park and recreation needs of the communities of Evergreen, Bergen Park, Indian Hills, Kittredge and Marshdale. EPRD serves approximately 23,000 people residing within its boundaries, and offers affordable recreational options to non-district residents. Learn more at
