Former JCSO Detention Deputy Faces Multiple Charges
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office initiated a criminal investigation into the activities of former Detention Deputy Myriah Lynn Lovato (DOB 09/02/89) on December 22, 2018, after deputies were informed of employee misconduct. Lovato was subsequently booked through the detentions facility that same day and placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. On January 2, 2019, she submitted a letter of resignation.
Today, a warrant was issued for Lovato’s arrest for the felony charges of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, First Degree Introducing Contraband, two counts of Second Degree Introducing Contraband, and Sexual Conduct in a Correctional Institution; and the misdemeanor charges of three counts of First Degree Official Misconduct and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
This evening, Lovato surrendered herself at the Jefferson County Detention Facility. She will be held at another facility until her advisement at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Sheriff Jeff Shrader released a statement regarding the investigation. His statement is available at:
Lovato was hired on January 7, 2016. She completed the POST academy on June 12, 2016 and was assigned to the Detentions Services Division. Upon completion of the criminal investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will conduct an internal investigation.
