Roxborough State Park’s naturalist guided activities in January
ROXBOROUGH, Colo. - Come join the fun, learn about nature and watch Roxborough State Park change with the seasons. Park naturalists will lead you on a journey of discovery through our guided hikes and activities.
Programs, sponsored by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, are free; however, please remember that all vehicles entering the park must purchase an $8 daily pass or display a valid annual pass. Please note: most programs require reservations. For information, call the park at (303) 973-3959.

Jan. 18: Nature & Knitting | 11:30 a.m.
Begin with a hike on one of our trails with Naturalist Deb Wright to get your hearts and muscles pumping. Once back at the visitor center, learn to knit winter-felted gloves or bring your current project to work on. Don't know how to knit? We'll be happy to teach you!!! Bring a skein of acrylic yarn and a pair of size eight-inch knitting needles to begin your next Rox journey of colors and fibers. Reservations via Eventbrite are required. Meet at the visitor center.
Jan. 19: Guided Bird Walk | 8:30 a.m.
With Volunteer Naturalist Jill Holden. Winter is a great time to observe birds. Grab your bird book and binoculars and join us for bird watching adventures. All ability levels are welcome. Meet at the Visitor Center. Reservations via Eventbrite are required.
Jan. 19: Photographing Roxborough’s Landscapes and Flowers | 9 a.m. - Noon
Join Naturalist, Bob Rabito, an award winning professional photographer for 42 years. Start with a one hour slide presentation showing you how, when, and where to take the best pictures. After, hike an easy trail photographing the beautiful landscape, flowers and wildlife of the park. This is a program for everyone. Digital SLR, point and shoot and cell phone cameras are welcome. Reservations via Eventbrite are required. Meet at the visitor center.
Jan. 25: Roxy Puppet Theater | 11 a.m.
Join the Roxy Puppet Players for fun, wild, and wacky tales of Roxborough wildlife. Ages: 8 years and younger, accompanied by an adult. Reservations via Eventbrite are required. Meet at the visitor center.
Jan. 26: Rox Talk | 9:30 a.m. – Noon
Rox Talk - And when they do, they tell amazing tales of events that have transpired on this little patch of earth! Join Naturalist Mary Taylor for an informal conversation about what the rocks tell us about their origins and the environments in which they formed.
