From XCel Energy:

To our customers in the Alma and Fairplay Communities,

At Xcel Energy, we're working hard every day to reduce wildfire threats across our service area to help keep you and your community safe. As climate conditions have changed throughout the west, the traditional idea of a fire "season" has evolved into a year-long battle against larger, stronger and faster wildfires.

We are writing to provide you with an update on our comprehensive Wildfire Mitigation Program and steps we are taking to proactively reduce wildfire risk in your community. On Sunday, June 9, 2024
Xcel Energy crews and contractors will take a temporary outage to from 8:00am - 3:00pm to perform critical system maintenance in your neighborhood. In the event of unforeseen delays, the temporary outage will be rescheduled for Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 8:00am - 3:00pm.

This work will include replacing equipment and strengthening our system to reduce the risk and impact of fires and increase overall resiliency of the power grid. We have proactively inspected our distribution and transmission lines and are now making replacements and upgrades to poles, wires and other equipment.

You may see crews working on overhead electric lines, replacing wood poles or equipment or trimming trees or reducing vegetation - like shrubs and grasses - near electric lines. If any of this activity requires an additional temporary power outage at your address, we will notify you with a call to the phone number associated with your Xcel Energy account.

To ensure you receive notifications of planned outages, please make sure we have your correct phone number. To do this, visit myaccount.xcelenergy.com or call 800-895-4999.
