As we have had multiple inquiries and significant media interest, here is our official press release from the deck collapse call earlier today. We are grateful that no one was seriously injured. Thank you to our mutual aid partners, Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District and Evergreen Fire Rescue who transported these patients while were were involved with simultaneous calls, and to Jefferson County Sheriffs Office for their assistance.

Elk Creek responds to deck collapse, only minor injuries involved

(Conifer, CO) -- On July 6, 2024, at 1:35pm Elk Creek Fire was toned to a private residence off of Armadillo Trail in Evergreen for a report of a deck collapse. The collapse took place during a child’s birthday party, and multiple people, both adults and children, were present. There were no major injuries during this incident. Three patients, all minors, were taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. Elk Creek Fire had simultaneous calls at this time, so our mutual aid partners assisted us and transported these patients (Inter-Canyon Fire, two patients, Evergreen Fire, one patient.) A Flight for Life helicopter was also on standby. The cause of the collapse is unknown.
