Elk Creek Fire/Conifer Fire Unification Update

28 May 2025 08:37 #1 by ElkCreekFireDepartment
Hello Community -

At 4:45 PM on May 6, 2025, we were notified that an appeal had been filed in Jefferson County District Court by Elk Creek Fire Director Charles Newby and Neil Whitehead III. The appeal names the Elk Creek Fire Protection District, its Board of Directors, and the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners as defendants. The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Mark G. Grueskin and Nathan Bruggeman of Recht Kornfeld, P.C.

This legal action will delay the unification of Elk Creek Fire with Conifer Fire as we navigate the court process. We will keep our community informed as we learn more about the timeline and next steps.
We remain deeply grateful for the continued support from our community and everyone who has worked hard to advance this effort. We will continue moving ahead with future steps, and we look forward to Elk Creek Fire becoming a part of the Conifer Fire Department soon.

Sincerely,
Elk Creek Fire
