Four days ago, Evergreen lost one of its beating hearts with the passing of Hank Alderfer. Through his and his wife Barbie's passion and dedication over the decades, they helped preserve and shape our Foothills area. Last month, History Evergreen organized a Hank Alderfer Day where those who knew him well shared some of his accomplishments and stories so we could celebrate his successes with him. We had the honor of recording that event for posterity and are proud to share it with you all.

From Mountain Area Land Trust:

"In Loving Memory of Hank Alderfer
Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) is sad to learn of the passing of Hank Alderfer, beloved rancher, historian, and tireless steward of the land whose legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of our mountain communities. As a founding leader and long-time board member of MALT, Hank’s vision and dedication helped conserve cherished open spaces, protect wildlife habitat, and safeguard the unique beauty of the Colorado Front Range for future generations.

Hank’s passion, wisdom, and generosity will continue to guide those who steward the land and work to protect the places he cared about so deeply.

May we honor his memory by continuing the work he devoted his life to: conserving the land, water, and wildlife that define our mountain home.

We send our sincere condolences to Hank’s wife Barbie and his entire family."

Hank embodied a life of service. May we all strive to emulate his example. Our eternal gratitude and condolences to his family and those who knew and loved him.
