I talked with Jackie last night to get an update about the food bank being closed. They have not left us. They are trying to find a building that can house more food than what they could handle over at the Shepherd of the Rockies.
The opportunity for this mission still exists - and WE WILL CONTINUE TO SHARE THE LORD'S BOUNTY. The mission will continue!!!!
The reason for this move is to gain more freezer space and to rely on the Lord's pantry and not the Shepherd of the Rockies, there are no bad feelings, this is a logistical move to help serve our community better and more efficiently. We will still remain in Bailey and we really hope that during this time, people that have extra please help out those that need help until we are reopened. Your help will be very much appreciated. We hope to have a more stable environment for storing the food and helping more people in these hard times.
We wish to thank everyone that steps up to the call of helping our community that really need it right now.
God Bless.
During this past year the Lord’s Food Pantry has been committed to meeting the needs of our community, offering fresh foods and other human services through the Mt. Resource Center, Park County Senior Coalition and Park County human services. We have seen growth beyond our wildest imagination. Many volunteers have contributed most immeasurably to this success.
As the growth of the Pantry continued, a sense of stress grew among a small number of members of the Shepherd of the Rockies church. What seemed to them to be a constant presence in the facility initiated a resolution concerning the on going occupancy by the Lord’s Food Pantry. Sunday, September 12, 2010, the church-voting members voted to no longer allow the Lord’s Food Pantry to function on the property.
Effective immediately, the Lord’s Food Pantry will be closed for the next two - [2] weeks to allow for a restructuring and relocation. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of everyone that have volunteered for this very important mission in our community. It is with a very heavy heart and deep concern for the welfare of all of you that I must make this announcement.
It is also with serious regret that so many families, who have come to depend upon the Lords’ Food Pantry, will have to seek other resources. Pantries within the “285 Church Coalition” may be contacted as a source of food for those in critical need. The Mt. Resource Center, Interfaith Task Force, St. Laurence Episcopal, Platte Canyon and Friendship Baptist will assist where possible.
We honor the trust all have placed in the Pantry and pray that you are not seriously nor personally affected by this unexpected turn of events. However, as soon as a location is found and schedules established, you will be notified with announcements on Pine Cam, 285 Bound and in the Flume.
Additional volunteer help, including teenagers and able-bodied men wanting to help make a difference in our community are welcome, will be needed once a new location is established. Watch for notices on where and how you can contribute to this wonderful mission.
We’ve anticipated reaching this level of operation and plans are in place to adapt to this change. We just did not expect this abrupt decision. It is such a blessing to be a part of this community, which has worked so diligently, and joined together to meet each other’s needs. We are blessed with the Lord’s bounty!
Joyously Serving,
Jacque Peterson, Director
Lord’s Food Pantry
The Pantry is in the process of reorganization and will post as soon as we can so folks can sign up to do different tasks and get ready for the Pantry to reopen.
PLEASE DISREGARD THE POSTING NEMESIS COPIED AS IT WAS UNVERIFIED INFORMATION.
PLEASE REFRAIN FROM WRITING LETTERS TO THE DISTRICT OFFICE AS WELL AS, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM GOING TO SHEPHERD OF THE ROCKIES ON SUNDAY MORNING, AS IT WOULD REFLECT BADLY ON THE LORD'S FOOD PANTRY.

In a brief meeting this evening, October 24th, Jacque Peterson, the Director of The Lord's Food Pantry, asked me to post a request to the community, asking that the community to pray for the pantry as " it is on the cusp."
Thank you all for your prayers and stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
