The prosecution rested its case, and the jury was able to catch glimpses of the defendant's side of the story Wednesday in the Malinda Spykstra trial, which is expected to wrap up on Friday in Fairplay.
Spykstra, a Bailey resident, is accused of carrying out a two-year sexual relationship with an underage girl between Dec. 1, 2003, and Dec. 1, 2005. She was charged in 2009 with one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust - pattern, a class 3 felony, and one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust in which the child is 15 to 18 years old, a class 4 felony.
