Will one of you Smart Liberals tell me Why Obama jumped into a Muslim Civil War in Libya, but won't do anything about this situation in Ivory Coast ( Cote D'Ivoire)?? Does this mean he is more interested in Muslims than Africans? Why not Iran, or Bahrain, or Syria, etc. What else can we assume than that he is working to prop up Al Quaeda, to change the balance of power in the Middle East against Israel?

U.N. Uses Attack Helicopters in Ivory Coast

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast – The United Nations and French forces opened fire with attack helicopters Monday on the arsenal of this country's entrenched ruler, as columns of Ivorian fighters allied with his challenger finally pierced the city limit.

The fighters aiming to topple strongman Laurent Gbagbo after a decade in power had succeeded in taking nearly the entire countryside in just three days last week, but they faltered once they reached the country's largest city, where the presidential palace and residence are located.

Monday's offensive marked an unprecedented escalation in the international community's efforts to oust Gbagbo, who lost the presidential election in November yet has refused to cede power to Alassane Ouattara even as the world's largest cocoa producer teetered on the brink of all-out civil war.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

OIL??? Libya exports to us about 2% of our consumption.

Am I truly the only one who can't understand why Obama was so eager to go into Libya? To create a sanctuary for Al Quaeda? This whole thing doesn't add up. Humanitarian effort? How about the millions in all the other countries that are at risk?

Most people aren't interested in this country because it is in West Africa. I just happened to be in Abidjan, the capital city, when the war broke out in 2002. Not that I was enjoying the heat or the living conditions, except in the Hotel where I was staying, or having to speak French, but I did learn to like the people, much like Bailey Bud learned to like the Muslims when he was living in the Middle East.

But I am wondering why we followed the lead of the French into Libya, but not into Ivory Coast.

I just said oil because that's what the left always said about Bush, even though we never got a drop other than sharing the world market.

OK. Like that first line is NOT a set-up. But I'll give my opinion.

1. Timing is everything. If the situation in the Ivory Coast was going full tilt prior to Libya going full tilt, we would be there instaed or as well. Who needs another war? Do you really think we can afford to continue to be World Police? Aren't we over-streched already?
2. The UN was already in I.C. with a 12,000-strong peacekeeping operation. They were not in the case of Libya. They are in I.C. to monitor and guide/enforce the results of the legitimate election this past November and to protect civilians . Gbagbo should go because he was voted out. The I.C. crisis has been at low boile for years and just recently flared up. (timing again?)
3. The humanitarian crisis while present in I.C., is nowhere near as serious as it was/is in Libya. Gbagbo does not have airplanes and choppers to attack innocent civilians. He has intensified use of mortars, RPGs and heavy machine guns "In the past few days".
4. Sounds like the civilians and the followers of the newly elected Ouattara are doing pretty well on their own. The UN air attacks sound more like ground support for further advances. (taking out an arms depot and base)
5. Let France deal with it. They have the experience in that country and they feel it is their duty. They asked for UN assistance so let them be world cops for a while.
6. Cocoa- and coffee can't be refined to run industry and autos, but it can keep you warm.

Why fight another war when the U.N. and France are perfectly willing to do it instead? The French are there because it used to be a French Colony, hence the name: Côte d'Ivoire.

Also, the Ivory Coast is predominately Muslim, brainiac.

"Does this mean he is more interested in Muslims than Africans?"

Your question sounds like you don't know the northern half of Africa is predominately Muslim. (and no, Africa is NOT country).

Ivory Coast is all Africans, Blacks. Yes there are a great number of them that are Muslim, just like in so many other countries. I know Africa is not a country, jerkoff, I have been to many countries on the Dark Continent.

It is great that you smarter than us Liberals have all the answers. I don't know how I ever thought I knew anything before, The problem is you are justifying what Obama is doing without anything to go by. There are other countries in this world that are going through the same kinds of things as Libya, and like Libya, they represent no actual threat to Americans or American interests. I still have seen absolutely no justification for our involvement in Libya. I am not advocating involvement in any of them, just as I see no reason for us to be engaged in Libya, unless strategically this has meaning for our enemies and ends up allowing a shift in the Middle East against Israel, which I see as the reason for Obama's involvement.
