I was changing my front brake pads because I smelled some grinding earlier today-I do most of the work on my vehicles and I noticed the boot was torn. How long can I drive it like that before I get it changed?

Until you crash and kill some innocent person. Go to Aspen Park Auto and get it fixed now.

I had the same situation a few years back, the mechanic told me it should be taken care of asap for two reason. The biggest is to keep dirt out of the joint. Otherwise what could be a small cost turns into alot more.

Thanks NC- Youre turning into one of the best guys here

Yeah, the brake pads had something left on em...The grinding was from the Axle.. It tore right around the clamp..I think I could clean it up, grease it up and stretch the boot under the clamp...

Thanks again for the help
