A great account of what America was about before progressive thought destroyed it.
The biggest crime is that instead of preserving this piece of heaven on Earth for future generation to enjoy, they tore it down to make a parking lot.
The young women of the community handed the young soldiers popcorn balls as the trains were leaving. Inside there was a piece of paper with their name and address. A heartland fortune cookie if you like. Many relationships and marriages were born from those popcorn balls.

People used their rationed foods to make stuff for the men and made do with lesser alternatives for their own daily sustenance.

How far we have gone backwards in the name of progress.

:yeahthat: Amen, I fear that the progresive diesease that infects this country is destroying us. We need to cut it out of America if we are to have a country left. How I do not know other than pray and teach our children.

NPR actually did a story on this book when it came out years ago and it was awesome to see a community just coming out of the Great Depression doing so much for their fellow man.
Makes you really wonder if the country would ever come together again, it happened on 9/11, but pretty quickly people started taking advantage of it.

Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
