Attended the Zoning and planning Commission meeting today. Learned a lot:
The BOCC already approved a building for the Burland Ballfields, BEFORE plat and zoning changes. Presumably, PCLL didn't know about the violation of zoning and lots. However, since I've been involved in this (April 2009), this has come up in various meetings with PCLL many times. So that is just an untrue assumption.
The BOCC announced an agenda item for the Ballfields originally set for May 19. This was iterated at the Zoning and Planning Commission meeting today.
HOWEVER, a PCLL board member requested, in March, to move the ballfields item to the April 14 BOCC meeting and this was approved at the time of the request. NOT ONE PCLL adult mentioned that at the Zoning meeting--even though they knew it about it and did not correct the May 19 date when asked when the meeting was by the Zoning Commission.
I checked the online BOCC agenda for April 14 today. It isn't updated to reflect the change, even though it was apparently posted in the Flume almost 3 weeks ago.
I spoke at the meeting and mentioned the railroad ties, boards and rebar left out at the ball fields in regard to concerns about maintenance and PCLL reliability. One of the PCLL parents then stood up and stated that what I said wasn't true. In my book, that's calling me a liar. I refuted her statement. As of Thursday, April 7, those items were lying in the drainage, on the path, and against the fence of a homeowner.
And where PCLL states that none of our tax money is used, let's keep in mind that, according to PC, PCLL pays $10 a year for use of the county property where the ball fields are. Wonder what they charge the adult teams to play there?
One of the PCLL adults stated that there is NOTHING for children to do up here. Why would you move to an area where there is nothing for children to do?
One person stated that Little League keeps children away from drugs, sex, vandalism and other nasty things. Ummm, I guess she didn't see the used condoms in the dugouts. That was pretty gross. But, that's a problem for their maintenance personnel. Oh, the maintenance agreement is a one liner in the MOU and PCLL hasn't bothered to honor the request of the Land & Water Trust Fund Board to come up with a detailed maintenance agreement, because that one liner IS a maintenance agreement.
Bottom line, the homeowners are not opposed to Little League, the two existing ball fields and ball games. They do not "hate" the children. They believe that two ball fields, with existing buildings, is enough. There are many opportunities on the horizon for the future of PCLL and new ball fields.
Go ahead. Call me a fruitcake, or worse. I'm not going to let PCLL spit in my face without a fight.
One of the SADDEST things to me and my spouse is that those who are ANGERY, DISSMAYED AND OH SO VERY DISSILLUSIONED, is that these folks can't seem to organize themselves to make a point to these IDIOTS running this county(into the ditch) I might add, that they are are not going to take it anymore. Just a side note... Be prepared because I'm hearing that the BOCC are going to start their push to RAISE taxes....
Thank you 2wlady for the update. I am out of town quite a bit and can't make it to the meetings.
The Commissioners just don't get it - things are not getting better and people in Park County don't have the money for more taxes.
PCLL has lost any and all support from our family and friends. way to go.

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government." Thomas Jefferson
I don't even live in the area any longer BUT from some of the responses from PCLL supporters, I would fight them. I've never seen such nastiness as I've seen from a FEW of the supporters - not all, some are rational and explain but others are just terse and downright snotty which does not help their cause - I'll be watching to see how it all turns out but, unfortunately, it looks like the homeowners are going to be the losers here.
I think we need a Rec. center up here for the kids. There really is nothing for them up here and the schools are cutting more and more programs every year.
