I don't know about the gold, but maybe the silver's for making bullets to take out the Mutant Zombie Bikers?

jmc, I wouldn't underestimate people's imaginations when it comes to making love to their money! lol

AV - thanks for the laugh! Favorite zombie quotes:

JMC, gold and silver will be a medium of exchange in an economic collapse. What you are talking about is a collapse of western civilization. An apocalypse. There is a difference.

If things go as far south as the doomsayers say, I will prefers beans to PM, You are betting on some middle ground and speculating on fear, no problem with me but at least be honest and admit that your investment strategy is based on fear. I know plenty of people that bet on false optimism. This a bubble. Classic.

Actually I am just posting. I do not the 4 or 5 oz of silver that I own will go very far. Fear of inflation? I can admit that. If the doomsayers are right, I think I would rather be dead then the owner of a bunch of beans.

If things go south the price of beans will rise faster than silver or gold.

I'll bet all the people saying they would rather be dead than be the owner of a lot of beans will be the first ones lining up to get some of mine.

No you don't, those are the deer I trained to come up to your house looking for beans and to report back. You won't see hide nor hair of them once TSHTF.

Even in the times of great inflation like the Wiemar Republic and current day Zimbwabe, precious metals are still worth a lot. If things go Mad Max crazy, the precious metals you will need are lead and brass.

 And we all be real sick of roasted pine squirrel after a couple months.
