I'll finally have a real excuse to shoot the damned things though. They love throwing pine cones at my cars.

The real danger in hyperinflation is that food stocks virtually disappear because speculators buy them all up and hoard them. Can't get food even with gold or diamonds. Get your beans now, those pine squirrels are really scrawny.

I was at Costco today and they were selling survival food rations. They had the USD price and also the price in silver grams. (I keed! I keed!)

That's too much ammo and not nearly enough variety in the vittles. You need oil lanterns and a wood stove for heat and for cooking when the propane runs out. And what about personal items and medical supplies? Also a pile of hand tools.

Most of us up here would have a big problem with water if the power went out. I'd save that propane to run the well pump and consider installing a big back-up tank.

If you need that much ammo to hold off those who want your stuff they are going to get you anyway. You can't guard your stuff 24/7 no matter how much ammo you have. In all likelihood most of the population up here would head down the hill anyway. Yes, I know, everyone thinks people would head UP the hill. But history shows people head for cities when times get dicey.

But don't count on the wild game. That's the first thing the unprepared will go for, and it will disappear long before they come after your MREs.

It's not so much who hunts where you are as it is where does the game travel? And even if no one is hunting there now doesn't mean they wouldn't be if they were hungry enough.

Good you have a good neighbor, a good neighbor is worth his weight in ammo.

I'm still worried about your grub though.
