I have to admit that was sort of fun watching her turn it on him.

I guess we saw that a little differently.

But then, I have a real issue with people who are constantly interrupting and talking over other people as Rice does here, while at the same time complaining that the other person in the "conversation" is interrupting HER.

Speaks loud and clear of someone so wrapped up in their viewpoint that they can't even let
the viewpoint of the other person intrude on their "specialness".

In short, people who just want to deliver speeches and get furious when any lesser mortal attempts to turn the monologue back towards dialogue really burn my butt.

I did not say what I did because I feel one way or the other about content. He was being a total jerk in Bill O'rielly or Olbermann style. (or even worse maddow, Glenn Beck Style. She did the right thing. Not talking politically about this.

I couldn't even FOCUS on the content because of all the talking over each other (he did it too but she did it even more) and threats to end the interview.

My impression was that like some really smart people who are used to being deferred to, she just didn't know how to react to someone who wasn't going to be deferential and let her totally steer the conversation.

(I am married to a really smart guy who has a tendency to go into "monologue mode" as she did here and it has caused us more than one big blow up. I felt the same frustration with her as I do sometimes with him. So I may not be totally objective here.)

Oh really? Watch at 1:10. She sat back and listened to his question and shook her head yes to indicate she heard him, then tried to answer and he started talking again. I give her credit for not sitting back and letting him put words in her mouth. It was so clear from his first remarks about Bush (taken out of context) what he was doing.

I really loved seeing an interviewee giving it back.

I've seen her act this way before to journalists who weren't even as hostile as in this interview, and I could point out a couple examples of my own of what I'm referring to in this video, but I think I'd rather let it go, especially since as I have already admitted, I may not be 100% objective on this issue.

She's a class act. She knows what she's talking about. His questions are based on what he thinks he knows, i.e. :Koolaid: . Typical of a liberal. Her answers are based on fact. Typical of a conservative.

I LOVE IT when a smart, conservative woman brings down a liberal dimwit like O'Donnell.

Wow AV, sounds like you watched a different video. O'Donnell is a complete ass and Monday morning quarterback. He interupted her right from the start and she smacked him down...good for her.

I would vote for her if she ran for president in a heartbeat but she's too smart to run.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Once again as far as not looking at content goes and seeing this not as a Rep. vs. Dem. thing, she defended herself from looking foolish and turned the tables. You gotta give it to her on that one.

I don't watch very much televsion news. When I do watch an interview such as this one, I am looking for the interviewer to ask those questions that may be in the viewers minds, not just let the interviewee deliver their version of reality without challenge. So what some of you saw as the interviewer being a "jerk", I saw as his journalistic duty to get his questions answered instead of just allowing the interviewee to direct and control the content that was delivered. That clearly irritated Ms Rice who, I suspect, is not very gracious about having her viewpoint challenged. To me, that is the mark of someone who may well be very intelligent, but also maybe too in love with her own version of the truth to listen to alternative views. that kind of attitude can lead to very large blind spots. And judging from the outcome of some of the decisions and recommendations she and the Bush administration took, I'd say those blind spots turned out to be very costly in the end. People who can't question themselves or allow anyone else to question their views make a lot of mistakes, no matter how smart they are.
