Hippopotamus on menu at Beijing zoo

Visitors to Beijing zoo are warned not to feed the animals, but they are encouraged to eat them at a restaurant that offers crocodile and scorpion on its exotic menu.

After watching the beasts in their cages, diners at the zoo's restaurant can gnaw on the webbed toes of a hippopotamus, chew a kangaroo tail, nibble a deer's penis or slurp down a bowl of ant soup.

The sale of the dishes has caused outrage since it was reported earlier this week, with conservationists condemning the practice.

I can just see the menu, titled: "What Died Yesterday Is On Your Plate Today."

It's a little like having the seafood restaurant in Denver's Ocean Journey.

Are they things that are eaten in Africa by humans? If they aren't endangered and this will not cause endangerment, I don't see the harm. Is it Asian culture or something else?

BTW, I went to a pig farm and ate pig schnitzel in Germany.

I went to The Fort and ate elk and buffalo. I eat elk at home.

lol , first think I thought of when I saw the header was the aquarium/restaurant in Denver. And remember Tuesday is "Keep the Fin" night. And for a small fee, you can dive in the tank yourself and spear your own dinner. It can't get more fresh than that!
