Worldwide War without End

Authorization to go to war worldwide, also to declare war within America itself, has been buried, as Section 1034, deep inside the National Defense Authorization Act. Congress hands over, wholesale, to the President -- and all future presidents -- the authority that the Constitution gives to Congress to decide whether, where, and why the country will go to war. If this provision passes, there will be no more checks and balances on the use of the military.

National Defense Authorization Bill H.R 1540? Gives President the Right to Continue Wars Without Approval? Also to Declare War Within America Itself
Posted on May 16, 2011 by Mark Schumacher

The White House has kept quiet about the FY12 National Defence Authorization Bill that could give Barry Soetoro AKA Barrack Obama too much power in starting needless wars. There will be no checks and balances from congress if passed. Something that cannot be allowed to happen. It would even give him the right to declare war within the United States to squash uprisings from the people. Giving the right to detain any American, they feel could be a problem within the USA.

“By declaring a global war against nameless individuals, organizations and nations ‘associated’ with the Taliban and al Qaeda, as well as those playing a supporting role in their efforts, the Detainee Security Act would appear to grant the president near unfettered authority to initiate military action around the world without further congressional approval,”

“Such authority must not be ceded to the president without careful deliberation from Congress.”

(P.S. This bill is totally scary but the above source is totally unfair to Obama, but I used it to drive the liberals crazy. Obama has not pushed this bill and has threatened to veto it because of this section.)

If his threats are like his promises, then they're no better than a fart in the wind. If it comes to his desk, I give it a 50/50 chance of getting signed.

Days of Decision on Ending the Wars
by: Robert Naiman,
Tuesday 24 May 2011

If you don't see yourself as the sort of person who calls your representatives in Congress and urges them to vote to end the war in Afghanistan, stand up and take a bow. This is your moment of special recognition. The American peace movement is calling on you - you - to call your representatives in Congress now to urge votes against the wars, and we want you to do this so badly that the Friends Committee on National Legislation has established a toll-free number for you to reach your representative: 1-888-231-9276.

The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act is expected on the floor of the House this week, and the House is expected to consider, among others, amendments to limit and end the war in Afghanistan, to limit and end the war in Libya and to strip from the bill the "permanent war" authorization inserted by Representative McKeon. Voting on these amendments may happen as early as Wednesday afternoon, Eastern time.

A suggested call script, with information on many proposed amendments, is here. http://www.justforeignpolicy.org/blog/ndaa2012-updates If your schedule doesn't permit you to call, you can write here. http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/14 ... n_KEY=6881

But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

I am member of the ALCU and received an email notification to contact my representative to express my opposition to this bill, the National Defense Authorization Act. I would also urge you to do the same for the sake of your posterity.
