Sheriff Joe really the Law and Order man?

For those fervent supporters of Arizona's notorious sheriff Joe Arpaio:

"Three cops working for Arizona’s notorious Sheriff Joe Arpaio were arrested this morning for human smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and laundering money for a vast drug ring with ties to Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel. One of the cops, Deputy Alfredo Navarrette, was a ten-year veteran of Arpaio’s controversial anti-human smuggling division, which has been criticized for civil rights violations. After Navarrette’s arrest, a sweep of his apartment turned up two illegal immigrants. Another cop, Marcella Hernandez, is eight months pregnant with the child of the cartel’s capitán. She had nearly $20,000 on her when she and Sylvia Najera, another corrections officer, were arrested this morning. Guess when Arpaio started calling himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” he forgot to add, “unless it’s happening right in front of me.”

"Last month, auditors found that his office took nearly $100 million that taxpayers set aside for funding jails, and used it instead for a "hgh-profile activity: rounding up suspected illegal immigrants. They'd also used the money to investigate Arpaio's political foes.

And on April 27th, Arpaio's right-hand man, Chief Deputy David Hendershott, stepped down after a six-month internal investigation that found that top aides to the sheriff had engaged in nepotism, intimidation, and abuse of power."

It isn't just bastions of liberalism like the ACLU that have taken shots at Arpaio. In a 2008 report, the Goldwater Institute, a conservative Phoenix-based think tank, blasted Arpaio for allowing violent crime to soar under his watch while redirecting resources from "basic law-enforcement functions to highly publicized immigration sweeps."

Guess he has been too busy with his books and reality TV show to actually pursue criminals.

And all that is just the tip of the iceberg. There are several ongoing investigations into millions of dollars that are just missing....and accusations of intimidation against county officials. I think it's time for Joe to retire.

Apparently Arpaio's office got a tip about this a year ago and after an investigation, arrests were made. What's the issue again? Sounds like he did the right thing to me.

"No one is above the law, and apparently no one is beyond the reach of drug trafficking organizations in Mexico, so we must remain ever vigilant," said Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery.

Deputies served 16 search warrants at various homes and businesses throughout the valley on Tuesday. They seized $200,000 in cash, 7 weapons, 10 pounds of heroin and 7 vehicles.

"We have enough problems on violence - not to have moles in my own organization to put my deputies in danger," Arpaio said. He said the investigation started a year ago after his office received a tip.

I used to live there and I can't stand Sheriff Joe. It doesn't surprise me in the least!

I don't think anyone is ambivilent about Sheriff Joe.....you either love him or hate him.....

I have no use for the man....he has done more harm to Maricopa County than he has done good. He thinks he is a law unto himself and conducts the Sheriff's office accordingly. It's one thing to respect your sheriff....it's quite another when the citizens are scared of him and his officers. And that is where things stand now.....go against him, be you a common citizen, or a county official, or a business owner.....and you will pay, and pay dearly.

Are you people for real? Sheriff Joe investigates and arrests these "cops" and then you rubber brains blame him for the "cops" behavior. How open-minded of you! What is wrong with your thinking?

It appears that you just hate conservatives. Blind hate. It is called bigotry.

Archer, you have not sourced one news report that shows where Sheriff Joe deserves the venom that you just spit on him.

no I haven't.

Interesting....there are whole threads where you post stuff you think, and stuff you think you know, and stuff you proclaim as truth, but let me give an opinion (yes, an opinion based on what I read and know from living there) and you get all bent out of shape.

But I wasn't dreaming it major bean

Arpaio has been the focus of a Federal investigation into charges of abuse and corruption for over two years and he has refused to release inmate and business records to the Feds.

Arpaoi has strong ties to Russell Pearce and the Tea Party and Russell's son Sean Pearce who was a confirmed member of the Neo-Nazi militia now works for Sheriff Arpaio.

NOW Arpaio and his cohorts are facing 12 counts of new charges ranging from corruption, abuse of power, and intimidation of public officials:

A simple google search would have saved you from looking foolish. Do your homework, then you can accuse others of not knowing what they are talking about.

Archer, conduct a search and you will see pages upon pages where you ask for sources, where you refuse to give a source, rail against those who ask you for a source, rail against those who do not want to give you a source.
The following quotes are only a few posts made by you in various threads. These demonstrate that you will ask for sources all the time and then castigate anyone who would post such as you posted above. These are also evidence that you are intellectually dishonest, have no integrity, slippery, slimey, slithery, disgusting, mean-mouthed, snarky, speak out of both sides of your mouth, etc.

archer wrote: .....why are you all so defensive when asked for a source? why do you beat up on any poster who dares to show you where you lied....what are you all so afraid of?

archer wrote: Let me get this straight.....you are using yourself as the source for a statement made by you.....only a conservative would think of doing that.

archer wrote: If some of you conservatives are so put out by being asked for a source for the fantasies you post.....then don't post stuff as fact if you don't have a source for it beyond your imagination. Your fantasies will never become facts, no matter how many times you repeat them,
