I caught it last week. Took awhile to figure out who is who, but it was very well done and did a good job explaining what happened with the financial market. While it blamed lack of financial regulation, the movie didn't attack one party or the other.
It seemed to make Hank Paulson kind of the "hero", not that there was a hero. And it put Ben Bernanke more in the background, I thought. Geitner was also very involved in trying to work out solutions.
My wife works for one of the companies involved, and she recognized the New York offices where she's been a few times. Her CEO claimed at the time that they didn't want the TARP money, but the government insisted. The movie pretty much confirmed that, and explained why the government needed every company to join in. Otherwise, it would look like just a few companies were in trouble and those companies would of had a panic run on them which would of put them under. Anyway, her company paid off the TARP money some time ago. She also confirmed that the meetings shown were very realistic.
Good analysis Pine. Few people realize how the TARP was shoved down alot of the banks throats, and they never really needed nor wanted it. Would have made a good stock trade at the time.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Hmm, Paulsen as the hero? I was going to watch it but this makes me think its a propaganda piece. Paulsen and Geitner should be put on trial for their part in the meltdown and in the bailout.

Well, that was my impression. He (William Hurt) seemed to have the biggest part, at least.
The villians seemed to be the financial CEOs. In particular, they made the Lehman Brothers CEO (James Wood) look like an idiot, then again he was at the helm when his company went under. The government guys were clueless when the meltdown happened, but they seemed to be working hard to come up with a solution.
Just my impression, though. I'll welcome any other opinions/reviews from those that saw the movie.
