Breaking News-- House adopts resolution rebuking Obama for military action against Libya without Congress’ OK
The measure by Speaker John Boehner says the president has failed to provide a “compelling rationale” for the nearly 3-month old operation to aid rebels battling Moammar Gadhafi’s forces. Democrats and Republicans complained that Obama ignored Congress’ constitutional authority to declare war.
I guess if the Republicans can't think of ways to create jobs, or deal with the deficit ceiling, or cut spending.....they might as well do something meaningless like slap the president's wrist. Thinking back to the 2010 election, I'm trying to remember where the republicans promised that they would do nothing for the next 2 years except put out meaningless legislation that does nothing to fix the problems we face today. Why did people vote for these idiots?

"Crossing party lines to deliver a stunning rebuke to the commander in chief, the vast majority of the House voted Friday for resolutions telling President Obama he has broken the constitutional chain of authority by committing U.S. troops to the international military mission in Libya."

Yes it was, though it was proposed by the Republicans, apparently to keep Dennis Kucinich from passing his resolution to require all the support in Libya to cease immediately, which also had enough votes to pass. I didn't mean to imply that this was just republicans voting for it, but I guess it sounded that way. I still think the house has better things to do.
My CRS gets worse with every passing day but I seem to recall that one of the larger planks in Barry's election campaign platform had something to do with ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - BECAUSE WAR IS EXPENSIVE. The idea being that it would restore peace and stability to those two countries and the entire region. Most assuredly the leaders of the nations in the region are reasonable people, all that is needed to restore peace and order is a meeting and some dialogue.
A couple of years went by and here we are with troops still in Iraq and Afghanistan and a new action in Libya (technically an action other than a formally declared war). First Barry assured us that America would only be involved in Libya for a few days, now it's a matter of months. It cost the US $100 million in tomahawk missiles in the first day of the operation (according to NPR
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/03/21/134742884/adding-up-the-cost-of-military-action-in-libya
imagine that, I didn't need to get it from Fox news!) but hey, whats the big deal it's just a couple million dollars?! We lost an F-15 enforcing the no fly zone, fortunately the pilot and weapons officer were recovered by US Marines. Didn't Barry promise us there would be no US Military personnel on the ground in Libya? The F-15 crew really couldn't help it and the US teams that perform combat search and rescue are the best at what they do, it was the right thing to do for the right reason. Anyone notice the conflict between what is being said and what is being done? Did no one have a contingency plan for combat search and rescue operations?
Then there is the small matter of the current president of ignoring the 1973 War Powers Resolution which requires the president to seek congressional approval for military action within two months of sending troops into action. Have a look at your calendar, three months have gone by and congress is just now getting around to challenging the US Military's involvement in Libya.
Meanwhile Egypt has experienced a revolution, the rulers of Yemen, Syria, Jordan, and Morocco are under siege by the protests of their population. Al Qaida is alive and well, despite the death on UBL, I guess simply talking to them wasn't really all that effective after all.
So, is the world the same place we were told it would be if Mr. Obama got elected back when he was on the stump? Draw your own conclusions but I urge you to consider the facts; what was said on the campaign trail and what is actually happening now.
BTW - Club Gitmo is still open too...
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Ok archer, time for an honest answer. If Bush had added this third war during his administration with the exact same circumstances, would you have said he was justified without congressional approval? Be honest.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

You're asking the wrong person CB....I have said from the very beginning I was against going into Libya or any other middle east country, with or without congressional approval......as I was against Iraq....
I appreciate your honesty archer, but since you and a whole lot of other Americans strongly disagree with this Libya move, would you not want both sides to protest this action? I would think if this was something you felt strongly about, you would just avoid the topic all together instead of trying to defend Obama in an indirect way. Wrong is wrong, right?
