"Across London, these posters can be seen telling us all that we are 'Secure beneath The Watchful Eyes' of the Metropolitan Police. I cannot tell you how much better that makes me feel. The imagery is pure 1930's/1940's and conjurors up the 'Golden Age of Totalitarianism'.
Britain is already a Police State in so far as the means for total repression are already well and truly in place. As the poster indicates all too well, Britain is the nation most under surveillance on Earth, Echelon monitors our domestic communications, our Internet usage is logged for years due to the Draconian RIP Act, our locations detected via our mobile phones and logged, all for the apparatus of state to access on very low level authority. Civilians are not just deprived of any firearms, in reality we are forbidden to defend ourselves and our property with so much as a broom stick."..........

The people of Britain are "subjects". They also have not constitution or limitation on their government. Their government is Big Brother, in fact, already.
Gee, I am so glad that we have a constitution so we are protected, no matter what....what a relief.....
the cool thing is that what really protects us, besides the fact that no one ever violates the constitution, is that we all interpret it the same way when we do actually look at it. Even cooler is that all of us actually read it and used our 1st grade reading skills to understand it.
It's a good thing people don't think that there is freedom of religion from reading the simple words DO NOT SAY THAT. Good thing there are no unreasonable searches....or seizures...and that this never happens locally...because all our constitution understanding population would never stand for it...we would not allow a law enforcement body to violate these fundamental rights, our rights or our neighbors...because we know damn well when we turn our heads on our neighbors, we have all lost.
Keep moving, no problems here....and why didn't someone call the FBI about that fire in Bailey???? There was weirdos there.
Don't forget all your extra protections left to you by your CO constitution and how well people defend others in this state...from the people that would dismantle it and make regulations that conflict it. Anyone have the constitution to live in a world where no one gives a sh** anyway? Esp those sworn to uphold these things.
...
Come on, I like the concept, but the implementation is a thing of the past. The rules needed today will be made up today and you are on the wrong side. Just keep moving along, everything is fine here....the problem is over there. Perhaps we best not worry too much about England, we already started a war with them to get the land and power they had here and then gave that power away within minutes...years. Do you really think any powers are really reserved for the people...and that the people are you? The people are your legislature and they don't take calls anymore from the people you know as people.
OP is creepy though, none the less. I give it only so many months before poster like that make soccer mom's all over lakewood and it's logical progression, Park county, are feeling safer as a result...getting groups together to print more posters to feel safer.
The correct description that Major Bean doesn't understand is the UK does not have a "written" constitution. Their constitution is "living" and is in their laws. Neither New Zealand or Israel have a written constitution, either.
Supporters of the UK constitution believe that the current way allows for flexibility and change to occur as history changes -- thus no need for Amendments. The laws have to be approved by both houses of Parliament. The law of habeus corpus originated in the UK, for instance. The Queen has no say in Parliament. She can only advise.
"Britain," by the way, is an island, Major Bean. The country is the United Kingdom, properly know as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

To refer to your earlier post, Israel is hardly a country to tout as treating all of its citizens equally. Non-Jews are extremely restricted in their rights as citizens.
And what good is a "living" constitution whenever it is arbitrary? That is a stupid notion. You should say that they have a "whim".
Sure, if the "whim" is approved by a majority of both the upper and lower houses (the equivalent of our House and Senate). I know they've been able to adjust the issue of who can become a citizen and what they have to do to become a citizen twice since I've been keeping track in the last 6 or 7 years. A "living" constitution is good precisely BECAUSE it can be changed.
