I found this to be amazing, delta better have some good lawyers to defend themselves..
JERUSALEM (RNS) Jews and Israelis, or passengers carrying any non-Islamic article of faith, will not be able to fly code-share flights from the U.S. to Saudi Arabia under Delta Air Line's new partnership with Saudi Arabian Airlines that is set to begin in 2012.
Although Delta announced in January that the Saudi airline would join its SkyTeam network next year, the implications of the deal only came to light recently, according to people who have scrutinized the details.
Saudi Arabia, which is governed by strict Islamic law, requires citizens of almost every country to obtain a visa. People who wish to enter the country must have a sponsor; women, who must be dressed according to Saudi standards of modesty, must be met at the Saudi airport by a man who will act as a chaperone.
Just how many Jews even fly to Saudi Arabia from the U.S. on Delta or any other airline?
The reason I ask is because the article you linked explicitly states "Saudi Arabia bans anyone with an Israeli stamp in their passport from entering the country."
I was just wondering how many Jews would want to fly to Saudi Arabia before they ever visit their homeland.
"Delta must also comply with all applicable laws in every country it serves," adding that passengers are responsible for obtaining the necessary travel documents required for entry.
"If a passenger travels without proper documents, the passenger may be denied entry into that country and our airline may be fined," the statement said.
So, you're upset that a U.S. airline won't let American citizens of a particular faith fly to a country that won't let them in and, in fact, bars them from entering? Really? That's your outrage today?
How horrible, if I was a Jew, I would boycott all travel to Saudi Arabia!
Totally off the subject, learned last night on NPR I believe, Saudi petrol has a very high sulpher content, too high for Europe and American pollution standards, so we buy ours from other suppliers like Libya and Venezuela.
One more reason oil is high priced, because the enviros make us buy the good stuff.
But it does look like Europe and America are essentially boycotting Saudi oil.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
My understanding is that it is not a enviro thing or a boycott thing at all. It is a $ thing. Heavy crude is more expensive to refine and not every refinery has the equipment to do the job.
