The motive behind this story doesn't make any sense, why would a lefty flame another lefty? I think I'm experiencing the very same sensation that a fish gets right before chomping down on a big chunk of food only to discover that there is a sharp hook buried in the middle of it.
I don't know much about Maureen Dowd and I'm not really inclined to start learning. The only angle I can figure as a motive behind the story is Mr. Obama's failure to fulfill all of the campaign promises he made to the alternative lifestyle community.
If there is any truth to the story I think the real irony won't be that Barry is a switch hitter but that he promised to run a transparent administration, something I don't think he has done well at all. On top of that would be the deliberate betrayal of his constituents who have similar lifestyle preferences.
BTW, James Buchanan, 15th POTUS was a Democrat from Pennsylvania and was most likely gay according to this site -->

I'm not going out on a limb and claiming that one website is proof positive, factual data. It just makes Maureen Dowd's story even less sensational, she can't even claim with certainty to have "outed" the first gay President of the US.
So what is her point and why wait until now to surface this nugget? If this left leaning muckraker is hoping to unseat Barry in the next election wouldn't the timing be better much closer to the election? The American public has a short memory so a negative publicity campaign seems ill timed right now, more appropriate for this time next year.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian." - Henry Ford
Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
I have come to the conclusion that Obama has absolutely no expert advisors. Any decisions that come from him take a very long time to form, are not timely, and do not foment U.S. interersts. He seems to agonize over making decisions almost to the point of being unable to decide.
He seems to demonstrate a person who has always been a member of the crowd, not a leader, who has accidentally been given responsibility.
Some are men are born to failure, others have failure thrust upon them.
For certain Maureen Dowd is liberal, but I have always found her thought provoking. Somewhere around here, I have the book she wrote. Also enjoy her on Bill Mahr. She is very soft spoken, and intelligent in her responses.

At least I can agree with you on that.
Wayne, think back to the economic and foreign conditions in 2008. Only an idiot would want the job of president in that atmosphere. That was the first indication that Obama and McCain were both idiots. And Obama has proven himself to be, in fact, an idiot.

As she states, she is unhappy with his talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Uh, toad, the bi thing was a metaphor. Did you even read the article? She never claimed he was gay.

Surely you can think more deeply than this and can address the subject?
And you demonstrate selective validation. Surely you're not that shallow and can be more intellectually honest.

Had they both announced then, they could be "idiots" as you characterize them or they could have been patriots, wanting to help get the country out of a coming depression. But they didn't. They announced in 2007, before the economy started to collapse.

Mr Media, the point of this is that even the hardcore liberals are finding it difficult to keep defending this failure of a president. He would have to be caught fondling a Boyscout before the liberals on this forum would speak up against him (but would probably try to find a "Bush did it too" response). It reminds me of the movie Titanic, when the ship was sinking and the band kept playing as though nothing was wrong. Some of the band members are trying to find the lifeboats now.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Didn't I just say that?

I'm certainly not defending him. In fact, like Maureen, I'm disappointed in what he promised vs what he's accomplished. That's why I'm undecided on who to vote for in the next election. But, it's still early in the campaign and anything can happen.
I believe the "Bush did it too" posts are merely to show your president was guilty of some of the same stuff you jump on Obama about but that you let slide by without criticism when your party was in office.
Personally, I kinda hope a conservative gets into office so we can see how they'll handle the economy. My opinion is that no one can fix it. It's going to have to naturally correct itself.
